Posting like there’s no tomorrow!

Well, when I decided to get back into EBay sales after my time off I jumped in with both feet!

I posted around 25 items tomorrow and today reorganized my storage system. We live in a 1400 square foot home, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and no place for EBay stuff!

This might be a good thing because it keeps me in check…sort of. Kinda. Not really at all.

Our spare room is our catch all for…well, everything. It is my husband’s office/ spare room/ coat closet and the-room-with-the-closet-I-keep-my-vacuum in.

My office is in the master bedroom where I keep the whole room in a natural disaster state. But I’m trying to figure out a way to fix that.

Here’s what I did. I went dumpster diving.

dumpster-diving

Ok, I didn’t QUITE look like that but I needed boxes. Boxes that were uniform size. And free. Definitely free. Did you know that behind many stores they have these dumpsters for ONLY cardboard. I guess they recycle them. I HOPE they recycle them. Because that would mean I’m pulling them out of the dumpster to use them for what they were put in the dumpster for in the first place! I think.

I found a bunch of boxes all the same size. And after filling up a couple of them with unsellable junk I started organizing the sellable stuff. First I have a 18 gallon tote for the stuff not listed. That is in my office. In our spare room/ office/vacuum/coat closet room I have this behind the multipurpose closet door:

Then I put the rest in these:

First off: I’ve never been in Ulta. But I have been in their cardboard dumpster several times.

Now, I know you are probably thinking, Uk! I wouldn’t want that in my house! Well, This is better than having them strewn all over or shoved in a closet like they were. Now when something sells I can just pull out which box it is in and stick it in the crate on top. (Who wants to bet the next thing that sells is pants? All the way on the bottom. Yea, haven’t figured out everything yet!)

Now I still don’t know what to do with the stuff that doesn’t sell. I guess I need to have a box for the its-just-not-selling-and-needs-to-get-out-of-my-house stuff. I’ll work on that. Maybe it will just all sell and I don’t have to worry about it.

Also I have a rubber tote of all the summer stuff I need to probably put in boxes til it is in season. But I’m pretty much out of boxes right now. I didn’t set my sites high enough I guess.

On another note I can’t decide if this looks like I sell a lot or very little on Ebay. I guess it depends on how full those boxes are. Hmmm…

If you have a way to organize your Ebay stuff or anything you sell online let me know! I’d love ideas so if this doesn’t work out I have a back up plan!

I’d love to have an EBAY ROOM like Kelly with My Dear Trash.

Maybe someday!!

My “Full Price” experiment.

I recently tried an experiment on buying clothing. I found a wrap dress, very popular this summer, that wasn’t on sell

Wrap dress

BANANA REPUBLIC WRAP DRESS SIZE 4 COTTON DRESS BROWN PAISLEY Sold for 10.48 + $6.95=$17.43

Not bad but when I took the $6.98 I paid for the dress out and shipping and fees my total was only $5.29.

Buying at the lowest price seems like it would have worked better in this case.

However I will take the 5 bucks I made!

Here is an item I paid $.99 for. I know it isn’t the same article of clothing by any stretch but bare with me.

Tennis skirt

Lija size Med Pink golf skirt with ruffle in back. Tennis skirt.

Sold for $12.59 plus $4.75 shipping. Made me $14.09 after cost were taken out!

Ahhh, that’s better!

Surprise high bid items!

You can sell anything on Ebay. Anything. We all know this. But with the recent 150 free items to list I put this theory to the test!

Here is what happened:

IMG_2068

This is a “super cloth” I picked up at a garage sale for less than $1. I really don’t remember. I sold it today for a total of $11. Yay me!

IMG_2058

I purchased a few Monopoly games for $.45 each and this is the money from one of them. A guy in Canada paid $6.50 for this little pile!

IMG_1686

These train set pieces also came in a $.45 cent bag. I’ve made my money back about 50 times with that bag! Sold for: $5.26.

Now, I know this doesn’t mean I’m making hundred’s of dollars worth of stuff sold but each little item gets shipped out my door it means two things.

  • I just made some money
  • I just got rid of something

Both are a huge success. If I sold it than that usually means I did a good job buying it! Or at least made my money back!

Good seller! Lands End Clothing

Lands End is one of those item’s I wasn’t sure would sell well.  I grew up with Lands End being a super swimsuit store to buy from because of all their options. I guess they still are!

If you ever see any swim wear from them and it is a good price snatch it up! Here are some of my summer sells from Lands End. I purchased each for $1:

-------------------------------------------------

Women Lands End Size 10 Peach/pink one piece Swimsuit.

Women Lands End Size 10 Peach/pink one piece Swimsuit. Buy it now $14

I searched before I posted this swim suit and didn’t find any amazing swim suit prices so I put it for $6.99 with $14 buy it now price, then went to bed. By the next morning it had sold for $14 with $5 shipping. Lands End can cost from $50-100 per suit and so I’m hoping someone was a tickled to get this for $20 as I was to sell it for that! I made about $9 on it total after fees and all. Happy with that!

----------------------------------------

Lands End size 15 Swim skirt Pink with design

Lands End size 15 Swim skirt Pink with design- $8

I got this one because the tennis skirts go so well. This was my first Lands End to ever sell. I think the size 15 helped it sell as well.

------------------------------------------------

Lands End clothing hasn’t sold too well for me. Even linen stuff. But I got this Lands End dress on sell for 99 cents and decided to risk it since I know a few ladies that wear dresses like this all the time. I listed it for $4.99 and it bid up to $10.51! I made $9.92 off this dress (happy with that!) after fees and shipping. I will be buying these dresses from now on!

Best Brands and Prices.

In an effort to sell more and have more knowledge of what sells the best, I’ve made a spread sheet of my best Ebay clothing sells in the last few months.

I’m going to try to keep this up so I know what brand sell, how much they sell for, and what to look for, though I know the later changes with the seasons.

image

This might not make any more sense to you that the saying “A hill of beans!” But basically what it tells me is that my best sellers are Old Navy and Ann Taylor. These brands not only have sold more but also this means they are the easiest to continually get at the places I shop. Since starting this spreadsheet I’ve been trying to grab up more Old Navy because I’ve realized that sells really well for me. Other resellers have said that Chico sells super well for them and though I have no complaints, they tend to sit on my shelf for a period of time before they sell. (Although I’m going to be looking for Chico Platinum jean Capris, because those were popular!)

I also know American Eagle and Banana Republic sell well for me, but according to this sheet they don’t sell for enough to make it to the sheet! Nor are they as easy to find.

Plaid seems to do well also. I’m going to keep my eye out for name brand plaid, but I’ll be careful because of the weather changing and never having sold this time of year before I’m not sure what everything will be like!
